Heyo people! Cramps almost killed me yesterday. But I feel fine now :) My cough is staying for some time, I don't think it is going away soon. :/

Anyway! We've neglected this blog due to our busy week! Now for some pictorial update!

We have been recceing these few days, and tried to find locations that suit our script. We didn't really get any fantastic locations despite the many days of recce, but we will recce even more the next few days! Which means I need to update my production schedule again. :/

So anyway, for the opening scene which is the birthday party we have a few gazebos to consider..

This one is at Siglap there. We decided not to use it. :) We found better ones at Pasir ris park. Nearer and nicer :)

We should be using the first one. So cute.

For the cafe, we were thinking of ice cream chefs, also located at Siglap. Alvin knows the boss there.

BUT THEN, a little bit too small. No space for tracking and stuff. So we were thinking of ice kimo at Sin Ming road. I heard its not bad over there, Alvin knows the boss over there too. Ahaha. Act popular lol. So we might be using there, we havent had the time to go down thou.

We will be using alvin's room as one of our location. We just need to clear it up, too messy already. Haha. Free clean up eh, how nice. Streets we are still looking for it. I'm thinking of Ann Siang Hill at Chinatown area. We will go there and check out probably tomorrow.

Shoot tomorrow!! Just one scene, which is the opening chachabo scene. :) One scene but a lot of set up to be done, we need to dress up the chachabo for birthday party. I hope it goes well. WEATHER GOD PLS BE NICE TO US :/

By the way, we had a little fun during the recce at pasir ris park.

Hahahahahahahahaha. Omg heng i never sit in it, I'll probably puke afterwards.
HAHHA. STUPID. We shouldn't have stop the thing and just let him turn round and round and round and round....

OH, and our new cast!!!

JOSH FROM PID! He just graduated!

HE IS DAMN FUNNY!! So I think he fits the role really well! :D

Ok good luck to us tmr :D

i think we have a number of things that we need to update this blog about.
gazebo photo needs to be posted as well as our new cast.

other than that, we've settled alvin's room as the room to shoot peter in. honoured, no? we're still scouting for more aesthetically pleasing streets and the various shops that are featured in the montage bit. shooting begins this saturday, mostly to cater to main cast's schedule but overall, i think we're ready.

"so don't worry about a thing cause every little thing is gonna be alright"

Seriously Unserious?

Having fun while working hard is so satisfying, and it's definitely one of the greatest reward for us. Although we are always laughing, fooling around, looking rather unserious while working, but the fact is, we are quite serious in the delivery of the work, just that we are having fun while working!

Not many jobs in the world lets you have fun while working?

We have been experiencing the fun and joy that this module is giving us, although it's a little hectic, but with the rest around, you know you are not alone, there are still others with you. Everybody is going through this p2 and vidpro thingy, most is stressing, but... with fun teammates, it just kicks off the day with 3D Surround Laughter! hahaha!

Hello friends. Jingyuan here is falling very sick now. She is coughing very badly, she can't hear and she can't breathe. I had a hard time trying to catch my breath today, I really don't feel good. Always when there's something major coming, I will definitely fall sick. As in, I fall sick every month la -.-, but like very sick. But I guess I'll go see a doctor tmr.

Today we talk about blocking a script! I've always wonder what is blocking, i thought it is like, breaking down the script into different part or some sort like that. But now i know. Lol. It is the positioning of the actors. The exact movement and position that they should go to. Now that I think of it, it is quite important to let the actors know exactly what you want, but allowing them to still move at their comfort, i think in this way, it will bring out the more natural side of them :) BUT, if we were to direct them poorly, the whole movement will seems awkward and unnatural. I think it has its pros and cons, pros is that the crew, esp the DOP will know when the camera should move and stuff, but cons is that, it might make things awkward for the actors. But however it is, i still think blocking is quite useful in its own way.

We learnt directing of actors yesterday, so it will help us alot in blocking. :)

Ok, i lost my train of thoughts...

hey hey ho ho.
right, actually i'm not sure what i'm going to be updating about because so far, this blog has been pretty updated regarding the progress and details involved in our project. the kinks have been worked out as best as we possibly could in the 5 hours of sitting in the canteen and our hardwork has earned us a night of no sleep, no play and all work.
but hardwork does pay off may it be tenfold or a minute bit. we've finally decided how our story is going to flow and stand firm on what we are focusing on.

we will strive on and on and on and on and on and on...

p/s. we need more visuals in this blog.

Heyy. Omg I almost forgot about this blog. The past 2 weeks has been crazy man. Vid Pro and P2 together is seriously a killer. I often get mixed up what is what, because both of the modules are kind of similar, and I always get confused :/ The madness are causing me to fall sick :(

Yesterday we had another presentation, yp and i was ALMOST late, we ran like mad to class. It was quite funny thinking about it. And we spent 16$ on prestige cab. wth. :/
Presentation was okay, we changed from puppet to lipstick after much considerations, like few hours. Need to redo budget schedule and production schedule too. :/

Anyway, let's talk about our story! We've been brainstorming ALOT for our story idea, and we finally decided. So this is it,

Peter is a very happy and carefree guy who doesn't care about what people think of him. He likes to do random things that people think is weird, such as talking to objects, smiling to everyone and etc. One day he was out on the street, he fell down. He found this parcel lying infront of him, and he opens it and found a lipstick. It reminds him of his mum. So he starting playing around with the lipstick, drawing with it, applying it on him. Until one day, his lipstick is used up.

Our logline is, everything is part and parcel of life. :)

It is not really finalise yet actually, we will improvise on it. Like, maybe do something that is more out of the box. :D Something more surreal perhaps. We will have another 5 hours sit in the canteen with my cup of milk discussion again :) Sigh.

I just done up the production schedule for both p2 and vidpro, and I'm already dying. I've still got my CDI to look forward to :(

5 hours spend in the canteen,
with chicken chop and alfie's talk,
we finally came out with our FINAL IDEA :D
As our previous idea was more to the surface,
and the 'puppet' does not serve much of a purpose other then just a friend,.
So we change the object into a lipstick whereby it will 'resemble' XXX's dead mother,
or makes him recall his dead mother.
So the story will be roughly the same,
except that we will show polaroids of different objects on his wall in his house.
It is to show the different parcels of his life that he had been through.
I think i will add update the beats of our story tmr (:
got to work on presentation TWO,
which require us to do a ppt, budget, schedule, casting, location and storyboard for our idea.
Hope we will put our strength and experience to use!

KUDOS TO MAJ for creating this blog!

I, hereby introduce myself, an APPLE.
Like what maj had said, we came out with a few different ideas, and we cut them down to the best two after some consultations and references. After presenting this 2 ideas, we decided to work on the one we prefered which was titled Parcel of Life.

On how the story goes:
The story that revolves around the guy, XXX and puppet. XXX will be ostrasize by people in school or outside due to his 'abnormal behaviour' (eg. talk to plants, rolling on floor etc). So one day when he went home, he either 1. fell or 2. parcel drop and he got hold of this parcel containing a puppet. He then brought it home and begans to talk to it, treating it as his only friend. So one afternoon, while he was in a cafe, a lady approach him which cause him to neglect his puppet. He then lose it and when he redeem the puppet, he happily swing it round and a truck came by, knocking the puppet off to the sky. he then walks back home and he once again found another box which his next PARCEL OF LIFE.

We are now on the track to refining the story line and add in details for it. We need to make sure that the interaction between the guy and the puppet isn't too common or simple. So there are still quite a number of thinking to be done especially on what puppet and the interaction.

Oh! we did not mention the roles of the members in pick-a-box.

Apple as director
Maj as scriptwriter
Alvin as Cameramen
Jingyuan as Editor

Thats all for this post then..
work hard pick-a-box!

greetings!
pick-a-box proudly presents their daily (hopefully) blog!
a few technicalities before going into the whole 'what we've done so far' bit.
apple, jingyuan & alvin, i don't really know how this multiple authors thing works but i invited you via email but i'm not sure if you'll be prompted for a password. if so, just nudge me. i've also took the liberty to add a tagboard by the side just so we can communicate better or, you know, have a verbal diarrhea with whoever.

down to what we did so far, let me work backwards, we've just finished with our first presentation on our two ideas. one revolving around a puppet and the other around a pearl. on the days leading up to that, we met numerous times in school to discuss the feasibility of our ideas and subsequently narrowed it down to two. the process was long and tedious but we managed to overcome the tiny little first hurdle.

now to the rest of the week ahead...

:)
maj.
